General Information
Our denomination is considered a connectional organization. This means that the local congregation has significant autonomy to do church as we sense the Holy Spirit's direction while retaining connection with a larger group of churches for things that can be done better collectively.
Locally, the way we do church is reflective of our name, Brethren in Christ. We believe that the local Church is comprised of covenanted believers who act in many ways like an extended family. Our governance is a synthesis of Congregational and Presbyterian. While the congregation as a whole retains authority to determine God's direction for the congregation, we utilize a Church Board of leaders who monitor and oversee our corporate life.
While most ministry is done by volunteers, we hire a small staff to equip all believers to do the work of the ministry (Eph 4:11-12).
